Travelling in Europe: choosing your route and stages
A short urban stay, a crossing of islands and a mountain circuit compare with different criteria. Start with the time required on site, then choose the transports and bases that make the days coherent.
Three ways to build the stay
Cities connected by train
Compare the exact stations and door to door trips. A change of station may require local transport; a pass does not guarantee a seat on each train. Keep visits close to your base for a short stay.
Deepen the preparation →Islands and coastlines
Do not add an island simply because it seems close on the map. Confirm port, frequency of the boat and conditions of postponement. One night near international departure can be useful if contracts are separated.
Deepen the preparation →Several countries by car
Ask for permission to cross each border and the conditions for restitution. Compare abandonment fees, tolls, parking and seasonal equipment. The vehicle and insurance contracts must correspond to the course.
Deepen the preparation →The point not to be deducted from the card
Europe, the European Union, the Schengen area and the euro area are not identical perimeters. The proximity between two destinations does not allow us to deduct documents, currency or roaming rules. Check the exact situation of each step.

Preparation question
Should we choose one city for a weekend?
For a few nights, compare the time saved with a single base to the time lost in transfers. A second city has no interest in it unless it leaves enough time in each.
