The method and its limitations
Time required = days × hours available - installation - departure - transfers between bases - days × daily time spent - free margin. The available hours exclude sleep. Do not include twice the same trip in transfers and daily expenses.
Count door to door journeys: waiting, parking, connecting, arrival at accommodation and baggage recovery. The hours entered are estimates; the tool does not know actual hours, traffic, time lags or opening conditions.
Example of comparison
For 7 days with 10 hours available per day, 2 hours of installation, 2 hours of preparation for departure, 8 hours of transfers, 3 hours of daily meals and trips and 6 hours of margin, 31 hours remain, or about 4.4 hours per day. Adding a 5 hour transfer leaves 26 hours: compare the interest of this stage with this lost time.
