Different rhythms

Schedules, weekends, mobility or seasonality can be part of daily life depending on the activity.

Open routes

Diploma, alternation, field experience and transferable skills can be complementary.

Education and retraining

Training and diplomas: choose by occupation

There is no single diploma for all tourism. Go from the missions you are looking for, check the prerequisites for the offers, and then compare the content, alternation, internships, cost and recognition of the training.

Direct access and experience

First positions and season

Some jobs for reception, room, service, entertainment, sales or assistance are open to beginners. A customer experience, English, availability and good field knowledge can count as much as a school specialty.

Building operational bases

CAPs and professional catering, service, hotel and catering and transport ferries provide directly mobilizable skills. The STHR technology baccalaureate prepares more specifically for the prosecution of studies in hotel and restaurant.

Batch + 2

BTS Tourism

Before choosing a training course

Check the certification and the skills involved

The form BTS Tourism RNCP37890 indicates Level 5 and a registration deadline as of August 31, 2028. Its three professional blocks cover the relationship between tourism clients, the development of a service and the management of tourist information. Use them to compare the program to the missions of the position being sought.

Verification of this form: . The term of the NCP does not correspond to an individual validity period of the diploma obtained.

Assessing the position

Practical questions to be asked in the interview

These questions help to understand the conditions of the trade. They do not assume that an employer's wages or practices are being used.

Sale and reservation

Which tools and suppliers use the team? How do the advice, sales and follow-up of files after departure are distributed?

Tourism production

Who validates the budget and suppliers? What indicators are used to monitor the quality and profitability of the product?

Air and airport

What are the timetables, prerequisite qualifications and stages of training? What procedures frame the planning changes?

Hotels

How are schedules, transmissions and periods of high activity organised? What software and languages are used daily?

Home and territory

Which publics and partners are priority? What part of the position concerns reception, mediation, promotion and projects?

Digital and data

What tools, data sources and indicators are available? How do we work together in marketing, product and operational teams?

Proceed to action

A simple method for effective research

A targeted search produces better results than a massive send. Prepare several key word variants and adapt your application to the missions actually described.

  1. 01

    Choose two trade families

Identify a primary goal and a near track to stay focused without closing the possibilities.

  2. 02

    Create a list of keywords

For example, "travel advisor", "booking agent", "receptionist", "d'escalator", "alternative tourism" or "seasonal accommodation".

  3. 03

    Define your constraints

Geographical area, mobility, hours, languages, type of contract, possible telework and date of availability.

  4. 04

    Adapt CV and letter

Make it clear customer relationship, languages, tools, known destinations, sales made and concrete situations managed.

  5. 05

    Follow each application

Note the source, post, date, contact, response and next action in a simple table.

What recruiters observe

Evidence more than adjectives

  • A language level illustrated by real experience
  • Reservation tools, PMS, CRM or office automation already used
  • Examples of customer and unexpected management
  • Clearly formulated availability and mobility
  • A concrete knowledge of the company and its activities

Beware of false offers

Never pay for a maintenance or contract. Check the domain of the email address, find the ad on the employer's official website and do not transmit any sensitive document until you have verified the recruiter's identity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Employment and training in tourism

Can we work in tourism without a specialized degree?

Yes, some reception, service, animation or operating positions are accessible with initial experience, in-house training or a degree from another sector. The requirements depend on the trade and the employer; regulated professions impose their own qualifications or authorizations.

Which degree to choose to work in the trip?

The BTS Tourism is the generalist reference training for tourism sales, reception, production and information. The BTS Management in hotel and restaurant is more targeted at accommodation and catering. The degree, bachelor's and master's degrees then allow for specialisation, provided that the recognition of the diploma and its possible registration in the NCPR are verified.

Is English compulsory in tourism?

The job is very often requested as soon as it involves an international customer, foreign suppliers or an airport environment. A second language can be an advantage. The expected level varies depending on the frequency of exchanges and the technicality of the position.

Where to look for a seasonal alternation or employment in tourism?

Start with Job Jobs France, France Work and My Job Tourism, then visit the career sites of airlines, hotel groups, tour operators, tourist offices and businesses in your region. Use alternating, internship, CDD and seasonal filters when the platform offers them.

Does Azatour publish or guarantee job offers?

No. Azatour offers an editorial guide and links to third-party platforms. Positions, dates, remuneration, conditions and application processes are exclusively the responsibility of the recruiters and external sites consulted.

Compare two training courses before registration

Identify the exact name of the certification, its certificater, its status in the NCP, the prerequisites, the schedule and the assessment procedures. A trade name close to "tourism" is not enough to identify the diploma prepared.

The evidence to be requested from each organization
CriterionTo be requested
CertificationAccurate title, RNCP code, certificater and how to obtain; see current official form.
Practical experienceInternships or alternations, missions expected, support of research and real organization with the employer.
CompetencesLanguages practiced, customer relationship, tools actually used and productions evaluated; distinguishing an initiation from operational mastery.
Cost and paceFull costs, confirmed funding, place, times and consequences of a change; do not count aid as acquired before validation.

For an application, bring this information closer to the job's competencies: give an example of a client file, incident resolution or project conducted, by anonymizing the data. Ask the recruiter what tools and schedules are relevant to the exact position.

Sources and method

Audited information, decisions to be confirmed

The guide was revised on 28 August 2026 from institutional, sectoral and employer portals mentioned: France Job JobScope, Onisep, France, DGAC, Marriott Careers and Disneyland Paris Careers. As the conditions of access, certification and offers may evolve, always confirm the final information with the training organisation, competent authority or recruiter.
