Travel to Thailand: directions, islands and advice
Thailand combines Bangkok, northern temples, regional cuisine and very different coastlines. The weather does not follow the same calendar on all coasts: the itinerary must start from the dates before choosing the islands.

Destinations with a common land border
To consider a circuit, check separately the opening of borders, permits and transport. A common border does not guarantee an accessible crossing.
A step to understand and organize
Ayutthaya: Selecting remains rather than chaining them
Ayutthaya was a capital of Siamese origin and preserved remains of temples and monasteries. The archaeological good bears witness to an ancient urban complex.
Source of the benchmark: UNESCO World Heritage Record. UNESCO DataHub Reference . This source documents the subject; access, tickets and transport must be confirmed separately.
The decision that changes this stage
Ask for the specific sites of an excursion and how to move between them. Compare some explained visits with a circuit that multiplies stops. External exposure and walking must be taken into account, especially with children or limited mobility.

Why go?
Experiences to be missed
Use these markers to compose a program adapted to your pace. Travel times, season and accommodation location count as much as the number of places visited.
Bangkok by the river and neighborhoods
Consolidate temples and historic sites, then devote time to contemporary markets and neighbourhoods. Travel times can be important.
The Cultural and Mountain North
Chiang Mai serves as a base for temples, cuisine and nature. Choose activities that are respectful of communities and animals.
A coast adapted to the season
Andaman and Gulf of Thailand do not have exactly the same calendar. Check rain, sea and connections for each specific island.

Route idea
A route to be adapted, not to be followed
This frame helps to visualize the pace of the journey. Keep margin for transfers, weather and unexpected discoveries.
- Days 1–4
Bangkok without overloaded program
Keep a light first day, then arrange visits by areas and modes of transport.
- Days 5–8
Chiang Mai and the North
Join the North by night train or plane and stay several nights at the same base.
- Days 9–14
Only one bathing area
Choose Krabi, Phuket, Samui or a quieter island depending on the season and transfers available.
When to leave
Choose the right time
There is not a single ideal season: the best time depends on the areas visited, your activities and your tolerance to the influx or weather variations.
Dryer season
Often preferred in much of the country, with strong demand and variations between the North and the coast.
Hot season
Heat and humidity require a lighter schedule, breaks and regular hydration.
Rain season
The showers do not make any journey impossible, but sea, roads and activities can be disturbed locally.
