Marrakech Medina: tour guide and landmarks

The Medina is a inhabited, commercial and heritage area. A careful discovery leaves room for streets, markets and breaks, while respecting the access and daily life of the inhabitants.

What distinguishes this place

An Almoravid Story

Marrakech was founded in 1070–1072 by the Almoravides. Kutubiya, the ramparts, doors and gardens are a testament to the historic importance of the city.

A heritage of many periods

The file also cites the Badiâ Palace, the Ben Youssef Medessa and the Saâdian tombs. Not all monuments tell the same period; distinguishing them gives meaning to a guided tour.

Preparation tips Azatour

Build a realistic visit

Preparing for arrival at the accommodation

Ask the accommodation for a specific address and a deposit point that can be used with the luggage. The last route may be different from the route indicated to a car. Keep the instructions offline and confirm the conditions of late arrival.

Choose visits and accompany

For a guide, clarify duration, language, places included and possible purchases offered. Keep moments of autonomous discovery in the appropriate areas. Ask for the agreement before photographing a person or workspace.

To be confirmed before booking

  • Confirm the drop-off point with the hosting
  • Check the authorized accesses of monuments
  • Clarifying the benefits of a guide

Search the current manager from the links in the official folder. Confirm schedules, rates, access and possible closures; these evolutionary elements are not presented here as guarantees.

Useful issues

Do all the monuments of the medina visit each other in the same way?

No. Access, time and usage vary according to each place; some religious spaces have special conditions.

How to integrate this visit into the budget of the stay?

Add ticket, transfer, guide, meals and necessary expenses. Check what your formula already includes. Keep the same motto to compare the options and distinguish the cost of stay from that of this one visit.
