Several former Khmer capitals
The park preserves the remains of the Khmer Empire capitals, whose coverage extends from the 9th to the 15th century. Angkor Vat and Bayon in Angkor Thom are among the major examples.
A large-scale whole
The UNESCO file describes about 400 km2, partly wooded. The movement between sites is therefore a real component of the visit, not a detail to be decided at the last moment.
